Project Proposal

Description

As part of our Project and Content Management course, our group developed a proposal to increase awareness and engagement among youth and young adults for the Intergenerational Speaker Series hosted by the Centre for Health and Innovation in Aging at Mount Royal University (MRU). The project aimed to enhance event visibility and youth participation by leveraging research-driven strategies and targeted communication.

Process Highlights

Throughout the project, our team followed a structured and collaborative process. We met with our client, including Jocelyn Rempel and Kamryn Baekeland, multiple times—beginning with an initial interview to understand the goals and challenges of the Intergenerational Speaker Series. We conducted data collection through peer surveys and informal interviews with MRU students to gather insights on youth perspectives and barriers to participation. Using this feedback, we developed targeted strategies to increase engagement. We then presented our proposed solutions in follow-up meetings with the client, incorporating their feedback to refine and strengthen our final proposal. This iterative process ensured that our recommendations were both practical and aligned with the client’s needs.

Outcome

The final proposal delivered a clear, research-backed strategy to improve awareness and youth turnout for the Intergenerational Speaker Series. Our work was well received by project stakeholders, who expressed interest in implementing two of the recommendations for future events. The project demonstrated our ability to combine user-focused research, collaborative planning, and content strategy to solve real-world communication challenges.
